Welcome To Central Highlands Community Church!

Central Highlands Community Church is a loving family of Christian faith located in Elizabeth Township, near the Monongahela River valley, south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  We're part of the United Methodist Church, which has more than 12 million members worldwide.

Come Grow With Us On Life's Journey

This is your personal invitation to visit your friends and neighbors at Central Highlands Community Church and find out what you've been missing in the journey of life.  God is real, present, and waiting for you to walk by His side through life's journey.

Living a spiritual life isn't always easy. It requires total authenticity and the inner desire to grow closer to God as you learn His ways and begin to understand His loving heart. Along the way, you'll hit bumps in the road, and find yourself navigating around the detours and distractions that can knock you off track and leave you wondering which way you should go.

But you don't have to walk that road alone. There is a loving and caring community of faith that will celebrate life's milestones and victories with you, and when life gets hard, they'll be there to support you, lend you a hand, and help you get back on course.

Of course, belonging to a community of believers is a wonderful gift that God offers us.  But it’s more as well, for we have been blessed in order to bless others.  Belonging starts that journey, but ministry and mission are what make it alive and vibrant.  It’s logical that when we seek and find acceptance in a community of faith, we have been loved by someone.  We are to give as we receive.  God sent his Son.  His Son sends us.

We've all been given a compass to help us find our way in life, but our safe passage to the promised land is much less difficult when we've got traveling companions along for the ride. Don't go it alone. You've got friends at Central Highlands Community Church, and here's your opportunity to come grow together with them on the journey of life.

    A healthy church is a church that nurtures people's relationship with Christ and their relationship with other people. We endeavor to be a relationship-building church.

     

    Discipline:

    A spiritual discipline is any activity, practiced regularly, that helps one to become more attentive to the presence of God at Central Highlands Church, we believe that the practice of spiritual disciplines is crucial to the development of vibrant discipleship. We place particular emphasis on the spiritual disciplines of prayer, Bible study, and personal involvement in acts of ministry.

     

  • Statement of Faith As Christian congregation in general, and a United Methodist Congregation in particular, we embrace the core Christian beliefs as outlined in the Apostle's Creed:

     

    "I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;And in Jesus Christ his only son, our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried: the third day he rose from the dead: he ascended into Heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty: from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic (universal) Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting."

     

    Along with other Christian traditions, we believe in a perfect, holy, sovereign God, from whom we are separated and alienated as a result of our sin. The Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, is the Spirit-inspired story of God's gracious restoration of the divine-human relationship. In the fullness of time, God came to us in the person of Jesus. Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, God was powerfully, mysteriously, and beautifully at work to reconcile the world to himself. Jesus Christ, in other words, builds bridges we are unable to build on our own. The most urgent mission of the Church, then, is to make disciples of Jesus Christ, so that all may come to know the salvation that God has made posible in him.
