Outreach
Outreach Ministries
We believe that, when we as a church reach out to those who are hurting and broken, it is as though we are reaching out to Christ himself. That is why outreach is not simply an optional activity in the life of our church. Rather, outreach is part of our ongoing reason for existence.
How does outreach happen at CHCUMC?
At Central Highlands, we endeavor to have a multi-dimensional ministry of outreach:
We offer prayerful and financial support to several missionaries, all of who are engaged in important ministry around the world.
We conduct at least one hands-on work camp or mission project per year specifically for adults. This is an opportunity for adults to invest themselves in significant ministry for the cause of Christ.
We conduct at least one hands-on work camp or mission project per year specifically for youth. This reminds our youth that their discipleship matters and that they too are called to an outreaching ministry.
At least 10% of our church’s yearly budget goes to what is called our United Methodist Mission Share. This money supports a variety of significant United Methodist ministries in our country and abroad.
We receive special offerings for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), which provides emergency relief in crisis situations around the world.
We create and/or host programs that carry the ministry of our church into the needs of our community. These programs include Alcoholics Anonymous; Narcotics Anonymous; a ministry of divorce recovery; Meals On Wheels (Monday through Friday); and a substantial network of youth ministries.
