Our History and Mission

Our Mission

As a congregation, our mission, is as follows: We exist to make disciples of Jesus Christ through the ministry of the WORD: Worship, Outreach, Relationship, Discipline.

Our Core Values:

WORSHIP—We worship because it is the only response that God deserves. Our church’s worship life embraces a variety of liturgical expression, both traditional and contemporary.

OUTREACH—We believe that the church is faithful to its calling only when it is reaching out with the love and ministry of Christ to those outside the church who are hurting, broken, or lost.

RELATIONSHIP—A healthy church is a church that nurtures people’s relationship with Christ and their relationships with other people. We endeavor to be a relationship-building church.

DISCIPLINE—A spiritual discipline is any activity, practiced regularly, that helps one to become more attentive to the presence of God. At Central Highlands Church, we believe that the practice of spiritual disciplines is crucial to the development of vibrant discipleship. We place particular emphasis on the spiritual disciplines of prayer, Bible study, and personal involvement in acts of ministry.

Our History

Central Highlands Church was organized in the year 1957, at which point the congregation met in the Elizabeth Township Central Fire Hall. In 1959, a sanctuary and educational wing were constructed, thereby enabling the church’s ministry to expand. In 1978 a new sanctuary was added to the existing church building. The church now numbers over 700 in membership. The membership ranges widely, both in age and personality; much like the members of any family. We invite you to become a participant in the life of our church family!

Our Facility

Our beautiful facility includes a 300 seat air-conditioned sanctuary, multi-purpose chapel, fellowship hall, offices and classrooms, two kitchens and a full size gymnasium/activity center. These facilities are well used, not only by our congregation, but also by the community and a variety of nonprofit organizations. The main level of our church, including the sanctuary, is completely accessible to those with physical disabilities.
